Open the downloaded package and follow the installer. On iPhone and iPad, and for the Mac App Store edition, install right from the App Store.

Every package shows its SHA-256 above. Compute the hash of the file you downloaded and compare the two values — if they differ, do not install it.

On iPhone and iPad, and for the Mac App Store edition, updates arrive through the App Store; the DMG edition from this site updates from within the app.
Those builds are not offered. The Mac app needs Apple Silicon, and the Windows app ships only for 64-bit (x64) Windows. On other computers, use the phone or tablet app instead.
Any 64-bit (x64 or ARM64) distribution with GTK 3. The system-proxy switch relies on GNOME settings; on other desktops the app still works in TUN mode.
